Overview

The SeedKeeper is a management‑puzzle game about a woman who runs a small seed shop in an imagined South American town rebuilding after conflict and climate shocks. Players match customers' needs by selecting, cross‑pollinating and stewarding resilient seed varieties, while teaching simple, innovative growing techniques like low‑tech hydroponics and soil restoration. The game blends cozy shopkeeping with urgent humanitarian themes: seeds as culture, survival, and hope

Setting: 

A coastal highland town scarred by recent upheaval. Markets are fragile, fields are degraded, and families are rebuilding homes and livelihoods. The seed shop sits at the crossroads of the town’s recovery. 

Core themes:

• Resilience seeds that survive drought, salinity, and displacement.
• Knowledge as power, traditional seed wisdom combined with practical innovation.
• Community repair small acts of stewardship ripple into food security.
• Memory and identity seeds carry stories of families, migration, and survival.

Game loop:

The main game loop is as follows: 

a customer comes, explains their issue/problem and in return as the seed guardian you provide them with the correct variety of a seed. By going through your seed inventory you can see the different seed properties and, depending on which you choose, you cross pollinate them , creating a new, resilient variety, you teach customer on how to plant seed using simple hydroponics systems

By giving the seed to the customer you will receive a new heirloom seed in exchange; a meaningful trade.

Purpose of the game: 

• Teach practical hydroponics: Show players how to build simple, low‑cost hydroponic systems using everyday household items.
• Raise awareness of world hunger, human impact to deepen empathy and understanding.
• Promote rebuilding and resilience: Demonstrate how communities can recover and become food‑secure through small, scalable projects.
• Encourage seed stewardship: Introduce the concept of heirloom seeds (fictionalized) and how saving and sharing seeds helps long‑term food sovereignty.
